The Golden Horde
- 3 races – The Crusaders, the Mongols and the Russians. They are different in means of development, in construction of buildings and in training of units. The Knights have heavily armored troops and great siege engines, the Mongol riders are fast and maneuverable, whereas the Russians are adepts of using weather and nature
- Each race has a large number of heroes with unique appearance and abilities
- Enemy weapons can be collected after battle and used to equip your own warriors. The same with horses, siege engines, etc
- Maps are big and filled with neutral settlements, which allows for diplomacy, proselytism and even slave trade
- Enemy units can be persuaded to switch their side with either gold or faith
The Golden Horde is an entertaining RTS that enriches the genre with its experience and equipment systems. It manages to build an identity for itself by choosing to depict a historical conflict that we rarely see portrayed in games or really any other medium, the battle for 13th century Eurasia.
